Director Choi Byung-gil Responds to Ex-Wife's Claims Over Bankruptcy and Financial Dispute as New Film 'Taro' Set to Release

Director Choi Byeong-gil recently addressed media questions at a press conference for his new film, "Tarot," held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. The film, described as a brutal fate mystery entrapped in the curse of a twisted tarot card due to a momentary choice, is set to hit theaters on June 14. In a developing situation, PD Choi responded to public accusations from his ex-wife, Seo Yu-ri, who took to social media to express her anger over financial issues related to his bankruptcy filing. She claimed that despite his reassurance about her loan being excluded from his bankruptcy, her name appeared on the creditor list in court documents, infuriating her further. In a series of KakaoTalk messages, Choi fought back against these accusations, insisting that her debts were part of standard procedures. He expressed frustration over their financial situation and asserted that he has no intention of paying any settlement regarding their divorce. Choi publicly clarified that he will not pay any settlement amount related to his bankruptcy and apologized for the misunderstanding arising from the leaked messages. He also expressed regret for bringing personal matters into the public eye, urging media outlets to refrain from sensationalizing their dispute. The couple originally married in 2019 but parted ways this March, with Seo claiming that Choi borrowed a significant amount of money from her and only repaid a fraction of it.
