Challenges of Living in Jeju: Broadcaster Choi Dong-seok's Experience
Choi Dong-seok, a former announcer turned broadcaster, has opened up about the difficulties of living in Jeju Island.
In a recent social media post, he expressed frustration over the challenges of delivery services on the island, stating that ordering items like beds and desks often leads to cancellations due to shipping issues. After finally receiving a desk that required assembly, he faced an additional hurdle when the delivery company asked him to retrieve it himself, only to discover an exorbitant delivery fee exceeding 90,000 won. Despite these obstacles, he managed to set up the children's desks and chairs, humorously acknowledging that they might not actually use them for studying.
Choi's journey in broadcasting began in 2004 when he joined KBS as an announcer. He married fellow broadcaster Park Ji-yoon after a four-year relationship, and they have one son and one daughter together; however, they ended their 14-year marriage recently. Following the divorce, it was revealed that Choi and his parents were living in a house that was under Park's name, prompting him to share his plans for relocating in a recent TV appearance.
He reflected on how the family home felt increasingly burdensome, reminiscing about its significance while considering creating a familiar environment for his children. As he navigates this transition, Choi's story sheds light on personal challenges intertwined with the unique aspects of living in Jeju.
