Triple Michelin-starred chef Kang Seung-won, known from the popular show 'Black and White Chef,' is facing personal controversies, but his scheduled events are expected to proceed as planned.
On the 30th, Dispatch reported claims from Kang's ex-wife, A, and ex-girlfriend, B, shedding light on his private life. According to the report, Kang married his ex-wife in May 2022, but they divorced just three months later, having never officially registered their marriage. As their relationship faced ups and downs, claims of inappropriate behavior emerged, including allegations of secret surveillance and coercion involving other men.
Furthermore, another woman, B, accused Kang of abruptly ending their relationship, raising suspicions of infidelity. Other allegations include verbal abuse and threats, but Kang has firmly denied these claims. Despite the controversies, the Seoul City Tourism Department stated that there are no plans to alter Kang's participation in an upcoming gourmet event at Banpo Sebit Island, emphasizing their commitment to the promises made to nearly 400,000 ticket holders.
However, the situation has prompted some citizens to request an immediate review of Kang's involvement, arguing that his controversies render his appearance at a public event funded by taxpayers highly inappropriate. In response, the city acknowledged the complaints but reiterated that the event will proceed as scheduled, highlighting the significance of honoring the commitments made to attendees.
The city has since stated they are currently reviewing the situation, indicating that this unfolding drama could have implications for both the chef's reputation and the event itself.
