FTISLAND member Choi Min-hwan has been temporarily suspended from the group amid serious allegations of involvement in prostitution.
On October 29, the band's management released a statement confirming that they will continue activities with a reduced two-member lineup featuring Lee Hong-ki and Lee Jae-jin. Starting from their November 2 performance, the drumming position will be filled by session musicians, and the duo plans to deliver a seamless concert experience. Additionally, a scheduled sports event with fans has also been canceled, marking a significant shift in the band's plans.
The management expressed their apologies to fans awaiting the '2024 Free School Free Heart Sports Festival,' which was set for November 23. Choi Min-hwan's wife, Yoo-ri, made shocking claims of his extramarital activities and alleged harassment during their marriage, intensifying public scrutiny. Despite attempts by Lee Hong-ki to defend Choi Min-hwan, the backlash has left the group in a difficult position.
Currently, the Gangnam police in Seoul have launched a preliminary investigation into Choi Min-hwan under laws regarding sexual offenses. As news continues to unfold, FTISLAND's agency is closely monitoring the situation, stating that further updates will be provided as they arise. With the investigation ongoing, the band faces an uncertain future moving forward.
FNC Entertainment's official statement elaborated on these developments, outlining the adjusted performance schedule and expressing their gratitude to fans for their understanding during this challenging time. They assured that updates regarding future activities would be communicated promptly. As the K-Pop community watches closely, FTISLAND navigates a turning point in their career.
