Jung Hae-in is capturing audiences' attention with his dual performances in the upcoming film "Veteran 2" and the romantic drama "Mom's Friend's Son."
In "Veteran 2," set to release on September 13, Jung portrays rookie detective Park Sun-woo, joining the seasoned Detective Seo Do-cheol, played by Hwang Jung-min, to chase down a notorious serial killer. The movie is a sequel to the 2015 hit "Veteran," which created a sensation in the action-crime genre. Officially invited to showcase at the Cannes Film Festival, "Veteran 2" has already generated buzz as a highly anticipated title for 2024.
During an interview, Jung expressed his initial pressures about joining the franchise after the success of its predecessor, yet he felt no burdens regarding his character, given its distinct nature from the previous film. He revealed how he was drawn to the project after an inspiring meeting with director Ryoo Seung-wan, ultimately deciding to participate without even reading the script. Jung further distinguished his character from Yoo Ah-in's portrayal in the first film, noting that Park Sun-woo's complexity lies in his cool, chaotic demeanor.
As he navigates intense action scenes, Jung mentioned that the real challenge arose from shooting in the winter rather than the action itself. He also shared a memorable moment during a scene that left audiences gasping, expressing excitement to experience it in 4DX. Meanwhile, he’s also showcasing a charming romantic dynamic with Jung So-min in "Mom's Friend's Son," adding a sweet contrast to his intense film role.
Jung described how the chemistry with Jung So-min feels natural, establishing rapport even before filming due to their shared youthful background in the story. He acknowledged the playful banter between them on set and highlighted Jung So-min's leadership qualities that make working together enjoyable. While speculation about their off-screen relationship has surfaced, he opted for a "no comment" stance, reinforcing the focus on their captivating performances.
