Yulhee Accuses Ex-Husband Choi Min-hwan of Sexual Assault and Files for Custody Change Amid Ongoing Legal Battles

In a shocking development, former K-pop star Yulhee has revealed serious allegations against her ex-husband, FT Island's Choi Min-hwan, while pursuing legal action. On October 4th, reports emerged that Yulhee filed for changes to child custody and requested alimony and asset division at the Seoul Family Court. After marrying Choi Min-hwan in 2018 and having three children, Yulhee finalized their divorce at the end of last year. Recently, via her YouTube channel, she accused Choi of sexual misconduct and released recordings suggesting his involvement in suspicious activities related to adult entertainment. Following these allegations, Choi Min-hwan faced significant backlash, leading him to halt all media appearances, including his participation in KBS 2TV's "Return of Superman". The police investigation prompted by Yulhee’s claims has led to a formal inquiry into allegations of violating laws concerning prostitution and sexual violence. As the legal situation develops, attorney Lee Go-eun expressed serious concerns over the implications of these allegations in a recent radio interview.
Attorney Lee pointed out that questions raised regarding booking accommodations might indicate more severe undertones than initially thought. She highlighted that while hiring staff in entertainment venues can be legal, the context of monetary transactions raises alarm, especially given the significant sums mentioned in relation to escort services. The legal ramifications for any potential offenses could be minimal for a first-time offender but may escalate with repeated incidents. Lee also commented on the custody battle, mentioning that while child abuse allegations could influence custody decisions, Yulhee had previously recognized the practical circumstances that warranted Choi Min-hwan’s custodial rights. This insight indicates that changes in custody based solely on prostitution allegations may be challenging. As the legal complexities unfold, public interest in the impact on Yulhee's family and career grows.
